Fashion Show!

IMG_3895-0.JPG So, this month, I took part in my very first fashion show, and what an incredible experience it was! On Wednesday 8th October, Truro Cathedral in Cornwall, UK, was turned into an even more stunning venue when it was transformed for the night into a catwalk heaven.

The show was organised by Totally Truro who invest their time in a number of projects that raise the profile of the city as part of the Business Improvement District. They did a fantastic job!

12 businesses in all showcased their latest fashions, which were sashayed down the catwalk by us very privileged models! The whole evening was incredible, it was so well organised and very professional, it felt really amazing to be part of it.

The evening involved lots of extras including a very trendy bar supplied by new local haunt ‘The Attic’ and the aisles were filled with stalls where local businesses were able to present their gorgeous goods.

As soon as I heard about the event I knew I would love to be involved. Not only do I have a love for all things fashion, I also felt it was a great opportunity to help promote local businesses and the local economy which is brilliant.

For a long time now, not only have I wanted to do my blog, I’ve been itching to get involved with more events such as this, meet amazing people and be part of events and social occasions. So this was a great opportunity and I got to wear some gorgeous clothes to top it off! 😜

I also happily gave the amazing organisers a hand with putting together the goody bags which were given to every person who came to the event. Inside the goody bags were discount vouchers, samples, logo stickers, flyers and catalogues – lots of amazing treats I’m sure you’ll agree!

Doors opened at 7pm and fashionistas were able to peruse the stalls, indulge in a glass of champers and of course admire the amazing cathedral itself, whilst backstage we were preparing for our catwalk debut!

As we were busy rehearsing our choreography and getting changed into our first outfits, we could hear the crowds gathering. I had butterflies at this point but I was so excited to get going. I was so happy to be modelling for 3 companies and I had 2 outfits for each company, 1 for each half of the show.

All of a sudden we heard “5 minutes” and the show was about to begin! I was part of the first group and we all stood in a line behind a big screen, the cathedral fell silent as the compare was introducing us.

We waited for the first notes of Lana Del Rey and before I knew it, I was making my way along the nave of the cathedral which had been turned into an amazing catwalk. What an incredible feeling it was! It was such a rush to be up there and the place was full to capacity which was so encouraging to see. I felt so happy for the organisers that so many people came out to support the event.

My first outfit was for Benetton and I was wearing the most amazing coral dress, a neon green cardigan, red patent shoes and a golden gem ladden clutch bag. Benetton’s first showcase was so colourful and definitely had an amazing vibe, my outfit could tick a lot of boxes from office to evening, a lunch date or cocktails. This outfit was so trendy, a definite “where did you get that…” type of look.

Along the catwalk, we all did a lap each and then a lap together to showcase all the outfits in their glory. Having gone from being so nervous, I couldn’t wait to get out there again!

As we made our way off the catwalk, I headed to the back of the cathedral to get changed into my next outfit, the whole area had been turned into a huge changing room and each company had their own area which was really cool and made it easy navigate!

Outfit number 2 was for “The Vor Store” and I was wearing black skinny jeans, a black vest top, an amazing cape, black knee high riding boots and a black handbag which was draped over my wrist. This outfit is perfect for a shopping trip or lunch with a lucky one! I could imagine this was an outfit a lot of people could relate to as it’s so super stylish and capes and ponchos are so in right now so it felt right on the money.

For outfit number 3 I was modelling for “Plum” and I was wearing a beautiful multicoloured shift dress which had shades of coral, grey, blue and green. Again, this was a perfect dress for day to evening as it could be worn with daytime shoes and then sexy stilettos in the evening. The material of the dress was so flattering and so comfortable, the length was a winner too.

Before I knew it, it was already the second half of the show, time was going so quickly, I didn’t want it to end! My outfits for this part of the show were:

Benetton – I wore a black shift dress with white collar and cuffs, red stilettos and a silver clutch bag. This was a gorgeous outfit and perfect for an evening out with the girls. I think I will have to buy this dress! It was so flattering and monochrome will always be stylish in my book. Plus this dress looked amazing with the hairstyle I had as it rocked the 60’s vibe of my hair.

The Vor Store – I wore a red and black skater dress (with an animal print – Roooaarr!). The colours in this dress complimented each other perfectly and the red was so vibrant. The dress was teamed with black strappy stilettos and is a definite party dress. (Christmas parties are coming up!). The top half was very sexy and the skirt had a definite ‘swoosh’ feel, the sort of dress that made you feel confident (and we all love those, right!?)

Plum – I wore a dusky coral pink dress with a bodycon skirt with a chiffon blouse and open back. Again, a definite party dress! I felt very feminine in this dress and sexy too as the floaty top half perfectly complimented the fitted bottom half.

I loved my hair, it was amazing! It was crafted by local hairdressers ‘Number 8’ and I had a double doughnut! It was super big and super high and had a real 60’s vibe to it. My make up was done by the body shop and it was a smokey eye with a stripe going up the side, coral lips for part 1 of the show, black lips for part 2 of the show (Benetton only) and red for the rest of the show. Amazing! And it was so much fun to experiment with a different look. (Pouty shot to follow! Haha!)

All of the models for each and every company were fantastic. It was great to have such an eclectic mix of fashions and models from each gender and every generation. For me, this meant that everyone in the audience was able to relate to different parts of the show and this made it really unique.

The evening flew by and soon it was the finale of the show. All of the models from each company did one final lap together along with catwalk and of course along with the people who made it all possible, the business owners and the Totally Truro event organiser who did an amazing job.

We ended the evening on a massive high and all of us were hugely proud of what we had been apart of. I had an absolute ball, enjoyed every minute and made some amazing new friends.

One things for sure, I felt very proud and privileged to be involved and I can’t wait for next year!

I hope that I can be involved in this amazing show again! πŸ‘ πŸ’ƒπŸ‘—πŸ’•

Lots of love
